My friend doesn't want a computer, but would like to get pictures off his phone and saved onto something on which he can look at them, especially in a larger size as he has vision issues.

I can't think any further than saving them to a memory stick (or using Blue Tooth if he can understand it), but what options might there be out there for saving them on something with a screen?

If your friend has a Smart TV they may be able to show the phone pictures on the TV. Different TVs use different words, cast, mirror, smart view. Even non-Smart TVs will often have USB ports so you can plug a phone in via a cable and look at the pictures on the phone on the TV.

Mmm... thanks Mono. No idea what type of telly he has. I'll ask him. But he really needs to get the pictures off the phone to save them.

He's lost his phone and it looks like it must be gone forever. I can replace the pictures I sent him but not any he took on that phone of course.

Delia, the Smart TV is a good option, most of them take USB sticks/memory sticks etc these days. You could also recommend another way to do exactly what you are asking is to buy one of those photo frames -- literally just a monitor in a frame that has an SD slot -- and use that. Find one that can be battery powered, and make sure it has physical buttons on it for scrolling through the photos.

Thanks Chris. I didn't know about those photo frames.

Seems I can give him two ideas then.

LOL you've made me study my telly.... I see that has 2 USB slots on the back of it!!! Don't know if I'll use them but at least I know I can LOL

The content of his phone may be saved in the cloud somewhere, depending on which phone he had. Buying a new phone and logging in with the same username and password, it might be possible to download from there.
Niels

Thanks Niels. Not at all sure he would have anything on the cloud really. He knows nothing about computery things I'm afraid. I don't think he has any passwords even LOL (though that isn't really funny is it!!)
