Fuchsia

Bug Babe
(Not a) Twite for ID Please

Hello,
These four were twittering around in the orchard with a flock of finches. The nearest I can find are Twites but there were Linnets here earlier in the year. Apologies for the pics but they were far away.

Many thanks
Jen :h?:

often more than sometimes!!

Anyway Jen, they at least look similar. One field guide I have that lists confusion species lists Twite for Linnet.

Ay Bert, see what you've started now! Somebody's copied the message you copied! :)

Before I get strung up for thread diversion, I guess I should add something about Twites! Habitat could also help you with your i.d. - though often they might occur in similar places, the birds Jen photoed were flitting about in an orchard ...in my experience I would say this is an unlikely spot for them, thus might hint towards the Linnets you first suspected ;)
