Problem with green coating of EL SV 8x32 (5 Viewers)

You can just "unwatch" the thread and not receive notifications. I think the comparisons are valid, because it is about similar materials that are exposed to similar conditions. If you aren't interested in the green rubber coating of the swaros, why the interest in this thread?
Yet again, completely off-topic... This forum is not about watches, boots and other rubber belongings. Has nothing to do with me watching or unwatching a thread. It has nothing to do with binoculairs, birding etc. either. Some just keep on nagging about something that has been solved.
It really becomes a pathetic discussion now...

No, it has not been solved. Read post #772 again.

Yes it has been solved. For 98 percent of us there wasn't any problem to begin with anyway...
The other 2 percent can sent it in for a new coating instead of keep complaining.
Let's now start a thread about bikes...

Where do you get the 98 percent figure from? Guessing?

And you did read that at present only the NL 52mm and 42mm get the new armour?

BTW, you seem to be a one-trick pony. About half your postings focus on "defending" Swarovski from criticism.
Interesting.

I called and emailed Swarovski to inquire about this issue, and this was their response. View attachment 1615353
Back to Swarovski and binoculars..

Thanks for this update that definitively states in writing about the new armour formulation and their expectations that it won't crack or crumble.

I presume Swarovski has done testing to simulate the conditions over extended periods of time, hence their confidence in the new material's durability.

Hopefully it's a permanent fix that won't require the "2%" to keep sending it back for servicing every 2 years, incurring $$ for the user and carbon footprint.

FWIW, mine are still like-new after 4 months since getting them back.

Pity that they aren't recalling unsold stock to replace with the new material, so some new buyers will be stuck with the bad stuff out of the box.

1% of the 2% uses Deet or never clean their bino's.
Leaves 1% of the users. Isn't that much. Wonder if other brands do better....
The 1% who do suffer can replace their armor for the new armor for free. Swarovski does solve the problem indeed!
That's what I call great customer service!
No reasons to complain...
By the way, I had a flat tire with my bike today . Shameful! Should not happen with such an expensive bike!

Not "for free".

Swarovski: "Possible handling and custom fees has to be taken over from the customer."

Not a trivial (potentially recurrent) amount of $ for those located in the affected tropical areas. And this "subscription fee" is on top of the high price paid already.

What part of this don't you get / refuse to acknowledge?

Anyway, this is my last reply to this ignored user. The most boring posts in this thread are these denial type posts by the same bunch of 1%..

Apart from the shocking idea that half of Swarovski's production may still not have the new armor yet, it's unsettling that the reply quoted above supposes this degradation to involve extensive use in hot sweaty conditions. Have they done their homework at all? So many other cases have been posted here of more lightly used bins in all climates, that one can have no confidence the problem has been understood, much less solved.

I personally reached out to not only Swarovski, but also several retailers in hopes of receiving more concrete information on this matter. It's difficult getting a transparent answer from anyone, considering that it's in their best interest to promote and sell their inventory.

That said, I'm reasonably satisfied with Swaro's response, and I'm optimistic that they're trying to make things right. I'll now be going ahead with my purchase of an NL, as the retailer explained that they'll hand-pick one from their most recent shipment.

So maybe I had to wait a few months before buying my NL pure 10x32… nothing wrong so far, but if I knew they would change the armour I waited for a while.

Chances are that nothing will go wrong with the armor. Good to own the NL now and enjoy it.

Yep, true, but they didn’t change the material for nothing. Still enjoying it, but I should rather have the non biodegradable version, to be sure I don’t have to send my very expensive bino to Austria.

I believe someone said that the new armour has a different colour. If this is confirmed, maybe someone could add a sticky note with this info, so people with the new armour don't worry about it.

Can ask to check the serial number from the shop if it was made in 2024

If it would come to that, you needn't worrie because your dealer will take care of you in both sending and replacing for the time being in Austria.

Depending on which country you happen to live in, possibly true, but equally possible totally false - in some countries you are left high and dry with the not small cost of sending them back and then being without a pair while you wait them to be turned around.
