Hello!

I need feedback on this Pipit that we think is Siberian Pipit because of indistinct marking on the back (as cf. to stronger markings on Meadow Pipit) and paler lores (as cf. to darker in wintering Rosy Pipit). It is much darker than the 'blakistoni' Water Pipit in its range too. On the same day, the observer saw Water, Rosy and Paddyfield Pipits.

Still, we are not 100pc sure and need advice. Any identifications tips would be highly appreciated. Thanking you in advance.

I am very confused by these two photos. You say that they are of the same bird, yet they do not look as though they are.

The first is so strongly marked and so contrasty that Siberian came to mind but bits aren't right. The second photo shows a bird that I would consider to be a Water Pipit without looking too deeply.

If they are truly of the same bird, then there needs to be a description of what was real and what is artifice. Without that, there really is no point in picking on the details of the photos in my opinion - sorry

Thank you for pointing that out. I stand corrected. Since you brought up the difference, I see it now as well. These were submitted under Siberian Pipit (a species I'm not very familiar with) in this particular checklist: Potential Siberian Pipit , hence the confusion.

Regards,
