South Africa: Hartlaub's Gull ? (1 Viewer)

I am just back from a trip in South Africa. I have quite a few birds which needs to be identified. I start with this one:

Is this the Hartlaub's Gull (Larus hartlaubii) ?

OK, I've not been to that part of the world so I might well be wrong but I think the first link is to a Grey-headed Gull and the other two are Hartlaub's Gulls. No doubt someone more experienced with South Africa will be able to confirm or deny soon.

Hi all.

Agree with Clive.
The first one looks like a Grey-headed - pale grey hood and pale iris.

The other two looks like Hartlaub´s - no hood, dark iris and slightly slender bill.
One should however be avare of hybrids between the two and some showing the characters of Hartlaub´s with pale iris could be hybrids.

I'll second Jan. Just remember that breeding Hartlaub's gulls also show a pale grey hood, but have dark eyes.
