Depends on what you want from a case. I want ultra-close fit (to stay compact) and to serve mainly as a dust and scuff cover when packed in my backpack or day bag. I pack the strap (even an Op/Tech neoprene fashion bino type) inside the case, folded in half, between the binocular barrels. I like cases to have a hard flat bottom to protect against pokes to the oculars. The BA and similar BN leather soft cases (with zipper and hard bottom) are thus perfect for my uses. I use mine with my Leica 8x32 BA, Zeiss 8x32 FL, and Zeiss 8x30 SFL.

I mainly agree with you, and I also have some Zeiss leather cases. But I prefer the Leica ones because with them you can choose to keep the strap inside (if it fits), or outside, which I find very useful.
With the Zeiss cases you have no option but to permanently leave the strap outside, and then the case remains hanging from the strap when using the binoculars, and I personally don't like that.
