Does anyone know what bird this is? It has shimmering dark green wings and what appears to be stripes under the wings. Underneath the tail has white spots on the sides. I saw it today knocking at the window and I don't know what it is. Please help fellow birdies!

Hi Blaise and a warm welcome to you from all the Staff and Moderators. I've moved your post to the ID forum where you're more likely to get the help you require.

It really helps to know where and when you took the picture. If, indeed it was South Africa, there is such a wide variety of habitats there.
I see you are in South Africa.
I suggest it's one of these.

Or even Dideric Cuckoo - BirdForum Opus ;)

I'm sure you will enjoy it here and I look forward to hearing your news.

definitely diederik cuckoo. Not aware of species elsewhere in the world this can easily be confused with. Widespread in Africa.
