The Trust have advised that the next survey of the Flashes will occur on Wed 3rd Feb. Should sufficient data have been collected the sluice will be closed to allow water levels to rise to the optimum point for the reserve's breeding waders (although this only gives ten days until the earliest return date for Avocet). The Trust havent volunteered what will happen if they havent collected suitable data by the 3rd Feb and at this point I don't dare ask ....

Tuesday's MOORS work party

Tomorrow we will be working on Amy's Marsh. This will cause some disturbance so apologies for that. We will be removing willows from the 'Lagoon' this will 'open' up this area and encourage more wetland habitat to proliferate. The work should be completed by 12pm, prior to this we will do a snipe/jack snipe count in the Broadmeadow. This will confirm or hopefully NOT that this winter has been a poor 'snipe' year.:t:
