FLASHES: Avocet (1), LRP ( 1 juv), Curlew (4), Green Sand (6), Common Sand (1), Lapwing (c50), Shoveler (2), Teal (2), B H Gull ( c80), Blackcap (f).

MOORS: Green Sand (1), Little Egret (5), Teal (10), Gadwall (6), Water Rail, Little Grebe ( min of 14), Reed Warbler ( 2 juvs), Cetti's Warbler, Cormorant (2).
 
Firstly, sorry if you are all already aware of this, it was new to me!

I am currently listening to Professor Alice Roberts’ book, Ancestors, when I go running. This morning there was a section on work done at Upton Warren! It was in the 1950’s by Birmingham University. I found this with a quick google, by Dr Coope,

My understanding is he initially visited the gravel pits because mammoth, woolly rhino etc. bones had been found. But he became more interested in beetle remains and found that there were both icy tundra and warmer climate species in close proximity. This led to him proposing that climate change could be rapid, rather than taking many thousands of years which was the thinking back then.
