A bit further in a wooded area "Arvenseeli" I saw this bird. A Chaffinch? Thank you!

Whether you want to try to ID or accept an ID for photo #1 is up to you. I mean ZERO insult / disrespect but it's just a photo of a blur that is open to interpretation. It can be fun trying but no one is going to be certain, and I won't offer my attempt.

Cheers :)

I think we can do a bit better. There's a bright patch that is surely not part of the tree. From there, you can see an adjacent black patch (below and left), and some grey (above and right), a bit of brown, and so on. I can't think of any non-bird interpretations for this color pattern, which seems a fine match to Chaffinch wing and mantle to me (not Hawfinch and certainly not Jay) though any opinions of mine about European songbirds should be given extremely little weight.

PIc 1 is a chaffinch too. The white patch is the white covert/shoulder patch on the wing, the darker brown immediately above the mantle/scapulars and the the greyer plumage below the chest/belly. The black diagonally below the white is typical of chaffinch wing. The head is largely obscured but is facing right. You are looking up from almost underneath the bird.

Thanks everybody!! It always amazes me how you people can see so much in a very bad picture. I just put it up for fun and to learn a bit about ID-ing birds.

No id info, just wanted to say I honeymooned in Kandersteg then visited again 10 years later. It is the most stunning area I have ever been to. Beautiful.
