Lucky you, I can remember the annual pilgrimage to the Brecks to see them and wish that it was still as easy. Ah well with global warming maybe I'll be around when the Woodchats colonise.
Literally as I read your post there was a WAAWAAWAAWAA of a Sulphie outside the window. Made me think, beg to differ Larry.Cockatoos (today!).... come on, what pitta can match a herd of flying giant squealing marsh mallows? and that's just the Galahs

Aussies look through Sulphies though they beg to be noticed...Surely has to be a contender for the most unpleasant sound produced by any bird!
Maluridae (Fairywrens, grasswrens and emu-wrens) for me.
Agree ( although Pterodroma Petrels come a very close second. )
Raptors by far, I don't know if that counts or if I have to split it up into Hawks, Eagles etc because then it would be difficult. Quite like Terns too
The parulidae (wood-warblers), all the way.
Not only do they come in all sorts of patterns and colours, they often come six or seven species in the same tree, during migration. Within the temperate parts of the world, at least, there's no experience to compare...
