Your favorite bird family? (1 Viewer)

Lucky you, I can remember the annual pilgrimage to the Brecks to see them and wish that it was still as easy. Ah well with global warming maybe I'll be around when the Woodchats colonise.

Surprisingly we've never seen a woodchat here, though we have in other parts of France. In the last couple of months we've had great grey which i'd never seen before.

The parulidae (wood-warblers), all the way.

Not only do they come in all sorts of patterns and colours, they often come six or seven species in the same tree, during migration. Within the temperate parts of the world, at least, there's no experience to compare...

Literally as I read your post there was a WAAWAAWAAWAA of a Sulphie outside the window. Made me think, beg to differ Larry.;)

Surely has to be a contender for the most unpleasant sound produced by any bird!

Maluridae (Fairywrens, grasswrens and emu-wrens) for me.

Aussies look through Sulphies though they beg to be noticed...;)

Much good choice for fave. When I was with BF member Jon Turner on Saturday, I remember watching a male Red-backed Fairy Wren hunkering down in some pathetic cover trying to avoid being completely blown away by a light gust. Such ethereal birds!

Kingfishers, Herons and Egrets, Raptors and Owls, Hummers, Storks, Ibis, Cranes.

When I win the lottery and travel the world birding I'm sure I'll add to that list.

I am not sure if I can answer this correctly but my favorites are Grey hornbill, Paradise flycatcher, Black-necked storks, Pelicans, and Blue-tailed bee-eaters. :D I am someone who just starting to learn about different birds, and my knowledge is somewhat limited. Its nice to your favorite ones. I'll be checking on them too hehe!!!

Surprisingly, I am really amazed by these creatures :D I am thankful that I have seen them from a beautiful country, Sri Lanka.

Raptors by far, I don't know if that counts or if I have to split it up into Hawks, Eagles etc because then it would be difficult. Quite like Terns too

Your favorite birds could be anything you want, be it raptors, birds of prey or just one particular family (like eagles, gulls, hummingbirds, etc.). It is your choice! Good Birding!
