Red-shouldered Hawk
Red-shouldered Hawk (Buteo lineatus texanus) Five subspecies are recognized with two being mapped for Texas. Subspecies texanus is found in South Texas and along the coast from the Coastal Bend southward and ranges south to Central Mxico. Photographed just west of Flour Bluff near Oso Bay, Nueces County, Texas, USA. Tamaulipan scrub in the Gulf Prairies and Marshes Vegetational Area at ca. 4.9 m (16 ft) elevation.
