Very busy at the bird feeder today! (48 Viewers)

Today's been a good hummingbird day: I had an Anna's hummingbird fly right up beside me while I was rehanging the feeder. It had clearly been waiting around, and was becoming impatient. I was very glad it only buzzed around, and did not attack my head. I've heard about people getting divebombed by aggressive hummingbirds.

My constant song sparrow visitor was also here from about 6AM till 8AM, napping in the greenery. I still haven't seen any other song sparrows at the feeder, although there is a large colony near here.

Two Green Woodpeckers on the lawn yesterday morning - not that unusual. But then one of the female Great-Spotted Woodpeckers flew down from the suet feeder, landed behind one of the Greenies and started imitating it! As the Greenie hopped along, pecking at the grass, the GSW followed, making half-hearted stabs into the lawn. After about two minutes it gave up and went back to the suet feeder. I wish I'd had a camera with me, as it would have made a great video.

For some reason there are lots of house sparrows flying around our garden but only 1 or 2 ever visit, any tips to get more in ? We have a decent variety of food out already, wonder if they just prefer to feed on natural supplies

Still very busy in our yards. 27 species yesterday even though Am Goldfinch and Pine Siskin were absent. Generally the same residents and winter residents every day but a few different birds now and then, mainly as flyovers. Yesterday's different birds were 2 Great Egrets, 1 Eastern Phoebe, 1 Turkey Vulture and 12 Black Vultures.

i have just put seed catchers on my hearts feeders and the sparrows have doubled. got about 6-7 coming now.

Couple of days off, so keeping a good eye on the garden while there's full daylight !

Dunnocks have been courting and also trying to establish territory. 2 pairs of robins in the afternoon, that could end very badly :-C

Great tit and pair of blackbirds becoming more regular, and had good views of a goldcrest on and off throughout the day, not seen the pair together so far yet this year tho.

Will get up early(ish lol) in the morning, refill the seeders and see what's about :t:

Darts and B :) tonight tho.......................
