Identification
Distribution
Endemic to the Canary Islands.
Taxonomy
Subspecies[1]
Two subspecies accepted:
- P. c. exsul on Lanzarote (maybe extinct)
- P. c. canariensis on La Palma, Gomera, Hierro, Tenerife and Gran Canaria
Has been considered conspecific with Common Chiffchaff in the past.
Habitat
Pinewoods, parks and gardens.
Behaviour
Vocalisation
Song: generally confined to chiff.
