Welcome to Nick's dining room table.

One very hungry gull! Mind you, a mix of sandwich terns, little egret and med gull does sound delicious! :king: I'm still utterly amazed by this little lot Nick, like I said before: Effin' perfection. Mike

Welcome to Nick's dining room table.

A bee-eater with its face missing, what a perfect example of why lost edges are not always a bad thing! Derryness rules! Mike

Welcome to Nick's dining room table.

Crazy, late '60's textile design made into a perfect supporting background for a fine waggy. Proper Art. And a gargany barely seen, just like the real thing. Knockout stuff Nick, buy more gin on the way back from work. Mike

Welcome to Nick's dining room table.

Gin + Derry = Tonic. Knocked out by the stylised life in the shrike and the stone curlew (more by the ywags actually). Then, just to prove what a superb draughtsman you are, you slip in the wood sand and the lizard. You inspired me to drink G+T last night. Sadly the creative juices didn't flow...

I'm actually a little bit breathless. Mike

Welcome to Nick's dining room table.

Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy! (Doesn't that look weird when you write it down?!) There's not much else to say when a Derry torrent hits the threads. It's just visual heaven. Mike

Welcome to Nick's dining room table.

I was knocked sideways by this lot when they appeared, lively, unique, inspired and inspiring. The yellow wag and the shoveller, coot, swallow combo are definite standouts for me...... Especially the waggy..... Yep, most especially the waggy! Mike

Welcome to Nick's dining room table.

Just because it's illustration doesn't make it any less beautiful Nick, they all have the deftness of the Derry hand which is a constant delight to all of us here. The plover's a marvel, it's got a kind of sixties feel to the design. And the creamy greys and lilacs lend the cranes a sort of...

Welcome to Nick's dining room table.

What I saw was an echo of the bittern's plumage in a Warrenesque way but there is a second wing shape which helps with the movement. Mike

Welcome to Nick's dining room table.

I hate you Nick Derry! ;) Oh those rooks are a thing of great beauty... Mike

Welcome to Nick's dining room table.

All totally wonderful! I'm so wishing I had more time during the daylight hours to get out and about to see this stuff going on. Those snipe are just amazing... Mike

Welcome to Nick's dining room table.

    Astounding. Mike

Welcome to Nick's dining room table.

I'm almost invariably humbled whenever I look at your sketches Nick. You have an ability to put down in a few lines the distilled essence of the live bird. There's a group of three lines in pic5, three lines and it's a lapwing's head right there on the page. As my South African friend would...

Welcome to Nick's dining room table.

I agree with Tim, the sponteneity of the inks forming their own patterns makes for an incredibly organic effect which could be spoiled by too much planning. When I was at school and drawing tiny, detailed twigs and dead nestlings my tutors were constantly trying to get me to try something...

Welcome to Nick's dining room table.

Lovely to see the ease with which you switch styles to suit the context. Hmm...Dipper in a car park eh? Sounds like me and waxwings... Mike

It seems to be the season for renovations! Lovin' the pochard, there's always so much movement in all that you do. Mike

Welcome to Nick's dining room table.

When you get into the groove you really fire 'em off rapid like. But none of it suffers for that, it's all mouthwateringly woderful. Mike
