    I also had a fantastic owl experience last night, when a Barn Owl came and perched on my window sill just five metres from me for about 10 minutes, before flying off into the night. Wow!

    Sadly not in the garden, but it was fantastic to have a Merlin less than a mile from my home this afternoon, along with a Peregrine. My first here in about three years!

    Really good morning with at least 20 Buzzards, 10 Ravens and several Swallows overhead, along with an awesome new garden species: 71. Hen Harrier A ringtail headed over mid-afternoon.

    Two additions this morning, with a Skylark migrating over and a fantastic Grey Wagtail by our pond. The sky here is filled with Swallows and House Martins, with loads of Mipits going over. I'm hoping for a few new additions for the year this weekend- a Yellow-browed Warbler would be nice! 68...

    Nice to have two additions, my first since June, in the last couple of days. The first was a Green Woodpecker and then this morning, a fantastic new garden bird for me, with three Kingfishers perched by our pond. It takes me up to 67 species in the garden this year.

    64. Red Kite Now on the 'in the garden' list as well, as I accidentally flushed one that was roosting this evening. Soon, two more of this wonderful species appeared, giving spectacular views as they glided low over the garden. Fantastic!

    60. Spotted Flycatcher Really nice to see that at least two birds are already present after a very poor year last year (just c.3-4 pairs, compared to c.20 in the year before that!). I can't believe I still haven't seen a Swift from my garden this year!

    I had an Osprey flying over in the direction of my house from one and a half miles away. I rushed home but sadly it didn't appear! Would have been a great garden tick.... Still, it was fantastic to see one so close to home.
