So how is your 2007 list going? (1 Viewer)

There's already a thread on this. Never mind. Up in 8 hours (make that 12, could have been a bit lighter on the sherry).
Prdeicting 25 species tommorow, just strolling round my patch.

May I be the first on here to see a bird for 2007!!!!!!!

A Collared Dove just came crashing down my chimney in the fireplace!!!!!!!!! Couldn't believe it. I don't use the fireplace and have all christmas decorations all arranged in front, had to move everything, and keeping it in a calm state didn't exactly work!!!!! Eventually got it in to the cat carrier!!! and out of front door in my nightdress!!!! It flew away at great speed into the night. Have just cleaned up all the soot!!!! Will continue my count at 7.30am!

Best Wishes Penny

Happy New Year

Well, despite having VERY sore joints today (left hip, both knees, shoulders & neck - I think I'm coming down with that lurgy that is rather rife in Alnwick at the moment) I was determined to not miss out on the first January 1st I have not had to work for quite a few years!
I had planned a trip up to Bamburgh to go to a field meeting of the North Northumberland Bird Club but my stupid car has conked out and I don't have a bike so today was a much closer to home jaunt - Hulne Park in Alnwick.
Turned out to be quite nice weather after last night's horrendous high winds and lashing rain! Clear blue skies, sunshine and really quite warm! :t: Had a total of 24 bird species, 3 mammals and one BUTTERFLY!!!!!!!! :eek!: Certainly wasn't expecting that LOL

91 today in N Norfolk - rather disappointed we didn't make three figures, but the wind made passerine birding hard work, and we missed the usual random selection of common birds (Grey Heron the most notable!). Having said that, can't complain too much about a day with 2 Black Brant, Snow Goose, Goosander, 11 Grey Partridge, etc...

Happy New Year!
