Trittiford mill pond and the dingles bird sightings (1 Viewer)

I saw three Pochard together on Trittiford then a solo one.
A Little Egret along the Dingles/Wonders Walk but no Kingfisher. Too much rain & brown water.

No sign of yesterday's second 2w Iceland Gull but the regular 2w was at Swanshurst Pool today along with the contentious YLHG type and a Goosander.

A productive walk round Trittiford this afternoon in the form of 2 site ticks. 2 Green Woodpeckers were feeding on the short grass to the right of the lake and a "cronking" sound above alerted me to 2 Ravens as they drifted over in the snow shower.

Also present 5 Pochard 4m, 1f, 1 Grey Wagtail.

A quick trip over to Swanshurst. No sign of any Iceland Gulls but 5 Shovelers and 2 Stock Doves along with a very large flock of Carrion Crows containing in excess of 100 birds.

The female Green Woodpecker was still present feeding in the same spot today

The lake was 90% frozen and the Pochard had cleared out....a slight increase in Gulls but just Black-headed and Lesser Black-backed.

A significant increase in winter thrushes.

Late morning walk round the local patch.

Fieldfares and Redwings in abundance as expected.

Little Egret on the River Cole along with a Grey Wagtail.

Siskins and Lesser Redpolls feeding away in the Alders amongst the common woodland species.

Best sight was watching a Treecreeper bathing just six feet or so away, totally oblivious to my presence...fabulous!

A scrutiny of the larger presence of Gulls but unfortunately nothing out of the ordinary.

The "Swanshurst Gull" is still strutting its stuff at the pool + some of the 13 Shoveler, which is a large figure for the Moseley area.

Afternoon visit for a couple of hours. 40+ species in the snow and below freezing temperatures:

1 Little Egret on brook at back of the park.
1 Meadow Pipit feeding on the lakeside path (a good bird for the park as usually just fly-overs)no doubt brought down by the wintry weather.
2 Grey Herons
2 Green Woodpeckers
1 Great-spotted Woodpecker
1 Pochard (m)
2 Common Gulls (both adult birds)
2 Cormorants
1 Raven sat in a tree in the park
30+ Lesser Black-backed Gulls
100+ Black-headed Gulls
5 Greylags
Lots of Redwings and Fieldfares feeding
Plus the common species.

A return of the 2w Iceland Gull to Swanshurst Pool today + "Swanshurst Gull".

Regarding the "Swanshurst Gull" does anybody have any open winged shots of the bird? Be interesting to see the underwing in particular.

Quick visit this evening with a lap of the lake listening out for the first Chiffchaff of the year but unfortunately nothing yet.

The Raven was still present, cronking away at the top of a tree and turning my attention to the lake was pleasantly surprised to find a Gadwall albeit flighty and rather unsettled. An unexpected patch tick.

When is the 2w Iceland Gull going to return home from Swanshurst Pool?
