200th Anniversary of the birth of Carl Zeiss (1 Viewer)

Zeiss owes far more to Ernst Abbe than to Carl Zeiss, though.

LOL, you mean Carl Zeiss did no more than start the company and have the faith and confidence and business sense to employ Abbe and Schott? All minor contributions in your view?

Abbe and Schott brought huge technical break-throughs to the table its true and I am assuming this is what you are driving at but its hard to ignore Carl Zeiss's role not only as a businessman but also his hands-on mechanical background which probably gave him the right insights into recognising Abbe's and Schott's potentials.
