Very easy for them to do this right at the beginning of the competition.

Hi,
It was at the end of the competition. The mods get together and vote on what they feel are the top 30 representative pictures for the contest. The others are returned to the appropriate gallery. They only take 30 birds forward for all to vote on. It's happened to most of us, don't take it personally. Keep trying, you'll get one to the finals eventually.

And by the way, most of us feel the moderators on here do a super job of keeping this site up and running.

The Competition for this month has just ended. Any photo that has not made the short-list for voting is moved into the correct category. This generates an automatic e-mail informing you.

It is certainly not a case of us "doing whatever we want"

I'm sorry you feel that way. The moderators were you doing exactly what they were meant to be doing. If you want to discuss this, please e-mail admin - admin at birdforum dot net. They will be more than happy to discuss this with you. Public threads are not a constructive place to discuss this.

Also, please post only in English on this forum.
