Advice needed for a new to digi-scoping mate. (1 Viewer)

Alrite!
Hi all

A mate has phoned me this evening asking for advice regards getting started on the digi-scoping front as he's not on line and is a total novice camera wise.
The camera he has asked me to look into is the Fuji advertised here- http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/s...ogId=1500002901&langId=-1&searchTerms=5596021

Also what type of "hook up" to his Kowa 880 series scope would be best? He has the 36 fixed eye piece and also the 20-60 zoom one for this scope.

I've no experience myself with bridging camera's but I know a lot of folk on here have, please advise.

It will be a present for him this Christmas from his lass.

I dont think it will be for any use (i might be totaly wrong tho!). My Pannosonic fz certainly wont and i havent seen any other bridges that produce a worthwhile effort when offered up. I would say have a look through the digiscoping board here and choose a well recomended compact and mount for the same sort of price. You wont go to far wrong then.

I agree with Dafi - it's highly unlikely that this Fuji would work for digiscoping. Way too much zoom for one thing.

Hi, Steve.

I don't digiscope these days, but when I was getting into it the consensus seemed to be that cameras with an optical zoom up to about 4x worked best, so superzoom bridge cameras are definitely out. In effect, they are an alternative to digiscoping, although they don't offer anything like the magnification but they are a bit more versatile.

All the best, mate.

Malcolm
