Hi, I'm wondering if anyone knows any good locations for birdwatching in Ayutthaya.
I've heard there are couple of temples that are good sites and maybe somewhere to see pied Kingfisher on the river, but I have no idea where.
Any pointers would be much appreciated, The only place I've been to around there is Bangpa-in palace

Hi Graeme,

Not sure if it was too late to update. Jus did a daytrip from Bangkok to Ayutthaya last week. It was 99.9% sightseeing but i had my bins all the time. I had most of the species during the train journey. Most of them are common species but few lifers on a sight seeing trip is not too much to ask for. The no. of Asian Openbill is superb, i had a total of 162 Storks from Bangkok-Ayutthaya. Didn't see a Kingfisher though.

Wat Phra Si Sanphet - Javan Pond Heron, Asian Openbill, Red-wattled Lapwing (+ few 100 Scaly-breasted Munia's for "Let them Go")
Wat Thammikarat - Lineated Barbet, Coppersmith Barbet
Wat Phra Ram - Green-billed Malkoha
Wat Lokkayasutharam - Small minivet

The railway station of Bangpa -in gave a superb pair of nesting Plain-backed Sparrows.

Many thanks, it's never too late :)
It looks like I'll stick to the parks near home unless I happen to be going that way for another reason, as you were.
Cheers.
