"Better Glass" (4 Viewers)

you can't remove coatings without grinding the glass off and re-figuring and polishing, re-coating is not going to happen w/ binoculars
Optikservice Schilling in Germany offers re-coating of lenses however.

Dienstleistungen, wie das Aufarbeiten von optischen Komponenten, speziell z.B das Neubeschichten von Rund- und Planoptiken mit reflexmindernden Schichten, werden mit viel Erfahrung durchgeführt.
Translation:
Services such as refurbishing of optical components, especially e.g. recoating of circular and plano optics with reflection reducing coatings, are performed with a lot of experience.

Probably light grinding and repolishing plus hand figuring.
Some hand aspherising also, resulting in better than new performance.

In the past there were several people doing this, including Jason Adams for Leica lenses and of course Horace Dall.

There is still a firm in the U.K. doing this for professional optics.

But it needs an expert at hand working glass.

Sometimes it is cheaper to order bespoke lenses from China and just use these.
