Come and Guess. (1 Viewer)

Sorry, nope for both. Just so you know, both photos were taken within the confines of North America. I wish I could see a Monjita or Water-Tyrant....*sigh*. I'll make it to Brazil some day!

So anyway, if you find yourselves stumped, I'll give a clue.

Right on Larry! You're correct. Both birds are fairly common in my area.

So thanks for playing everyone. I'll try to scrounge up a few new photos soon.

Alright everybody, I'm back. I've finally been able to get out and photograph a few cool birds. So, enjoy yourselves!

Glad you (and the quiz) are back, Tayler!
#1: Empid? Maybe Willow?
#2: Black-crowned Night-Heron
#3: Green Heron
#4: juv. American Robin?

Good Joao, you got the two herons out of the way!

And yes, it's nice to see you again too. I'd come and participate in your quiz more, but I have to say, my knowledge of South American birds is surprisingly lacking!

So keep guessing on the other three. Don't worry, I'd be glad to give clues if needed later.

No takers, huh? Well then, get ready for clues. For #1, we have a member of Emberizidae. For the third, think Accipitridae. And lastly (this one is the most dificult), not found in North America, go furthern south.

Hope that helps!

#4: Red-shouldered Hawk? Maybe Ferrugineous? (sorry for the double guess)
#5: Looks so, so familiar, but I just can't remember. :-C
PS: Nice avatar!

Way to go! Two more down Joao.

#1= Fox Sparrow
#4= Ferruginous Hawk

For the last one, I will say this. The bird in question inhabits the humid, foggy subtropical forests mostly on the slopes of Venezuela's costal ranges as well as other similar areas in northwestern South America. This bird has a vulnerable status in the wild.

Thank you and you too :)

Still no one? Okay, another clue. The bird in the last photo belongs to Cracidae.

You're kidding! I was thinking of curassow since the beginning, but found its beak smaller than the one in the photo! Is it a Curassow? Helmeted perhaps?
P.S.: No one to help me out here???

Looks like you won't be needing any help because you're right! Also, this would be a (Northern) Helmeted Curassow.

Okay, we can finally move on to another set of photos.

Good job on #2 Wiktoria! It's a Smew alright.

You're close with #4, though.

#4 reminds me of some sort of penguin, but I think you are keeping this pretty much to North American birds (so I assume it must be something else).

Sorry everyone, quick correction. #2 is the Smew, not #1. #1 is something completely different ;). Additionally, this species isn't native to North America either.

Larry's got it on #3 with Turkey Vulture!

#4 is a penguin. Not native to North America. I didn't follow the rules on this one ;).

#5 is a raptor, but not a Northern Goshawk. Think of something "faster".
