Common Goldeneyes? (Redding, CA, USA) (1 Viewer)

I wanted to verify these are Common Goldeneyes; 2 females and one male.

We were some 200 miles away from our usual spots, so don't want to take for granted what I "know" (and I use that term loosely where bird IDs are concerned!).

Yep. Only confusion would be Barrow's Goldeneye, which does occur in northern CA, but these are Common:

male is obvious due to small round white spot on face (vs large crescent in Barrow's)

For females, easiest for me is bill color: Barrow's would be yellower.

Nice!

We see the females all the time near our home (SF Bay Area), but this is the first time we've ever seen the males!
