Corvid (West Midlands, England) (1 Viewer)

ad. ♂ Blackcap
Hello,
Can anyone help me with the ID of this corvid, which perched near my house last year? I initially thought that it was a Jackdaw because it seemed to be the right size for one, until I looked at it with my binoculars. I then thought it was a Carrion Crow, especially as it was on its own, but something didn't seem right. As the attached pics hopefully show, this bird didn't have the characteristic thick bill with well-curved culmen; instead the bill was more pointed, seemed longer, and the culmen was only very slightly curved. Also, the bird's folded wing that I could see seemed to have a tinge of brown on it, which I read is not a Carrion Crow characteristic.
Could this be a juvenile Rook? I don't think I've ever seen Rooks in my village, so would be great if it was one.

Matt
