Costa Rica - Birding Guides (1 Viewer)

Hi All! My wife and I are travelling to Costa Rica in July and are currently in search of local birding/wildlife guides who would be both knowledgeable and won't charge a fortune at the same time. The places we re are currently looking at are Corcovado, Palo Verde, Monteverde, Tortuguero and Gandoca-Manzanillo national parks/wildlife refuges.

If someone could give me contact details of local guides for those places, I would be most grateful.

My identical answer to an almost identical question on another thread:

Any time I contemplate a return to Costa Rica I check on the availability of Patrick O'Donnell and Randall Ortega Chaves, both of whom have extensive experience in every region of the country.

At Monteverde / Curi-Cancha, you'll struggle to find a better guide that David Rodriguez who is local so you won't have to pay his travel and accommodation costs as you would if you took a guide with you.

BirdForum documents 1000 of Patrick's posts from 2011 through Sept 2019, mainly in the Costa Rica forum (which has hardly been teeming with activity in the last few months). Over the last nine years or so he's been an active and (more to the point) informative participant.

Not going to argue with you, Patrick is always helpful and very knowledgeable but he's sporadic in his appearances here. No doubt this is due to him being in the field or simply that there's nothing for him to comment on or assist with. His last post was in September so perhaps you and I just have a different idea of 'frequent'.
