Here are two in progress paintings, I have the underpaintings completed and for me now the hard work comes into play. The Varied Thrush has a long way to go, I hope to finish it by fall. Thanks for looking. J R

It will be interesting to see where they go from here, especially with these strong colors. What I mean to say is it will be interesting to see if and how much you might tone them down. I'm always partial to bright colors myself.

Masterful use of graphite, Chamnois is beautifully rendered, rarely seen textures so well drawn. Amazing portrait full of observation, little touches like the lose hair on her crown lift it above the everyday.

Gotta agree wholeheartedly with Alan there, John. Lovely work indeed, especially like the chamois too, ang the big-horn sheep...great detailing on the horns - it looks a bit like a nautilus stuck on the side of its head! And anyone that can draw people realistically - my hat off to them! Great stuff
