Hawk and sparrow in Sacramento, CA (1 Viewer)

Well-known member
Took these photos at the Sacramento NWR last week. I am wondering whether the hawk is a juvenile Red-tail and the sparrow a juvenile golden-crowned.
Thank you for your help. Hawk.jpg Sparrow.jpg

Indeed, a Red-shouldered Hawk and an immature White-crowned Sparrow (paler face with more crisp rufous and white head stripes).

The White-crowned Sparrow is the subspecies gambelii, the expected subspecies for the Central Valley.
