Help with bird identification (sound) - North Portugal (1 Viewer)

Hi everyone,

I'm a newbie to birding and I'm hoping to get some help with identifying a bird sound that I heard on May 7th in a mountainous area near the Cascata de Bilhó in North Portugal. Unfortunately, I didn't manage to get a visual on the bird, but I did record the sound.

I've been using the Merlin Bird ID app to learn bird sounds, but it wasn't able to detect this particular sound. I was wondering if anyone might be able to help me identify it.

With my hearing aids turned up and filtered for higher range sounds, I can't hear anything either, I'm afraid

Hello,

playing your recording on a large device, I can hear what might be high pitched calls of a Firecrest.
But adding to my usual caveat I am not sure, if the appearant call isnt some artefact.

Hi,
it sounds like the anxiety call of Robin, usually uttered when someone's too close to its nest.
I'll see if I can find a similar one in xenocanto.

Or leave it unidentified? There's no way of being sure.

I would plump for a crest, rather than a Robin. The habitat the bird was in may narrow it down but as Butty has said I'm afraid.
