How do you hear EDG said? (1 Viewer)

A dealer mentioned Nikon EDG to me recently and he said it so it sounded like edge. Maybe that's how everyone says it but it hadn't occurred to me before. What do EDG users here say? I just say ee-dee-gee assuming it's short for extra-low dispersion glass (as in the ED suffix for similar photographic lenses. But maybe they put in the g so as to give the idea that the EDG gave users the edge over other makes. Anyone know?

It is pronounced "edge". It is easy to say, and does say it all. ED glass and G, great.
I have enjoyed them ever since they came out in 2009.

I recall a phone call to Nikon service once, and I referred to the "edge", the young twirp I spoke to, did not not understand my
reference. The problem is that this guy did know much if anything about binoculars at all.

I say "edge", because that's what it looks like to my brain and it stuck.

If there's an intentional pun, it's likely that they are "sharp to the edge", not "they give you an edge". Or maybe they are the "cutting edge" of performance. Plus of course evoking the "ED glass" aspect.

Also in 2008-09-ish when they were first coming out, I'm sure writing "edge" as "EDG" sounded cool and, um.... edgy? Like when putting the letter "X" made something eXtreme!

Somehow this is making me think yet again about how Nikon completely bungled the marketing of these really spectacular binoculars.
