A Black Kite went low West over Can Curassa (western end) at 1200 hrs. Two Egyptian Vultures had been seen earlier.

Majorca April 2019

Sounds like some great birds still around but sadly back home now. managed to sort out a few photos from my April visit.

An Oystercatcher has been seen at Cuitat jardín .
11 Honey Buzzard past Cases Vellas yesterday, it was too windy to go to the tower.

Sadly my last day today before flying back to Newcastle. Caught up with Kevin this morning at Depuradora, around 12 black terns doing laps of the near pond. Apparently just missed little tern by a few minutes. Plenty of bee eaters on the approach road. We went on to Can Cuarassa and had good views of 2 Egyptian vultures in the field on the left. They eventually moved off in the direction of Albufera gaining height as they went. We heard a golden oriole but couldn't find it. Final stop was a trip to the finca at Boquer valley. Saw single honey buzzard, blue rock thrush and possible red footed falcon. Thoroughly enjoyed the last 10 days, birding has been quiet but the company first class. I even had the pleasure of meeting Mike Montier for the first time and spending several hours (6!!) at Albercutx with him and Kevin on a cold and windy Saturday morning

Great meeting you too Dave. I’m glad you can see the funny side of six near-birdless hours at the tower in the biting wind. I will certainly never forget that day.

Hi Dave, good to meet you today. Please find attached a pic of the little tern. It did three laps of the pool at Depurado. The best I’ve managed today were black and little tern & tawny pipits. At the bouquer; red kite, booted eagles, blue rock thrush and a pair of Balearic warblers. Hoping to get the Egyptian vultures tomorrow.

Still 8 Black terns at the Depuradura but no sign of the Little tern that was there yesterday.
Nice to meet Philip there who picked up a female Golden oriole flying over the reeds. Other birds of note were Turtle dove, Marbled duck, Lesser kestrel and Bee eaters .
This afternoon on my way to the airport I had a look for the 3 White storks that have been hanging around there for a few weeks. I finally found them in a field behind the airport on the other side of the dual carriageway.

We have both Flava and Thunbergi breeding in Sweden.
The yellow wags I see in spring looks just like them.

I think you are right about all of your Wagtails but maybe others will comment.
A Roller at Albufereta today.
Not much more news yet, I will post all information I get.

It was the Thunbergi i am not too familiar with and know a lot of the races interbreed.

In Sweden Flava and Thunbergi do meet and interbreed. The birds from such interbreeding can look a lot like Thunbergi, but most often they will have a supercilium like the Flava has.
