Midway lists the prices of the Conquest HDX binoculars.

The price is about what I guessed. Too bad they don't list the FOV or weight. Nice find though. I put myself on the notification list.:D

I was hoping they would list the specifications, but at least they listed the prices. They state their arrival is overdue, so maybe they’ll arrive before October.

note third pic down in the Midway ad. "designed by Zeiss."
I told the Zeiss rep that they should make the new version of the Conquests in Japan to keep the price the same. Maybe these are made in Japan because it doesn’t say Made in Germany on the focus wheel like the old version.

Probably "designed by Zeiss" and made in Japan hidden underneath the hinge, like the SFL.

It looks like they are coming out in all the formats also. Even a 8x56.

We’ll all have to wait and see. Then we can see how different it is against the old one, the other zeiss and new contenders like the Banner Cloud.

Could be Japan or could be China like the Terra. I don't think they use Hungary these days.
At the $1000 price point, I bet it will be MIJ. I am curious to see how they compare with the Zeiss FL 8x32 which I have. If they are a flat field design and have a bigger FOV than the FL, say 8.3 degrees instead of 8 degrees, it might be a competitor for the FL. I think the FL will still have better, more expensive higher content fluorite glass and probably control CA better, but I will have to compare them when I get one.

the new HDX 8x32 has the same FOV as the original Conquest.

I wonder if this is more of a refresh rather than a significantly improved version of the Conquest.
yes, it's really a Conquest HD 'plus' with some improvements such as a locking diopter, new armor, slightly less bulky, slightly lower weight, new coatings with improved color accuracy, aspheric lenses used to flatten the field a bit. I think that is about it as far as I can tell.

That actually pretty significant. Do you know if the 8x42’s FOV was increased? Cheers!

The HDX announcement Is posted on Zeiss’s USA website and YouTube. I noticed it only has a 10-year warranty.

If the object of the exercise is to go birding (or indeed hunting or whatever) hunt down the best bargain you can get on whichever of the 8x32 or 8x42 Conquest HD you prefer (if you don't know which you prefer, get your ass down to the nearest store that has both, and try them) and start using them right away. Super proven, excellent image and seriously, if you got the newer model or even a SF you're likely to be what - 1% more effective in the field (if that, and possibly less with a SF because you'd be tempted to baby it)?

It's too bad the little knob protrudes from the bottom of the bridge, instead of being flush with it, like the SF's and I believe the SFL? One of my favorite attributes of the SFs....it is the most comfortable 42mm to hand-carry IMO.

It looks like the door is still open for a big (50mm+) SFL? Maybe price it a little more than the 56mm Conquest but less than the 54mm HT? Or just get rid of the HT all together and put a big SFL in their place.

Or a 50-56mm SF. Swarovski has made a 50mm+ NL, hopefully Zeiss will do the same with their flagship line.
