Hi, is it possible/helpful to report birds where only the colour ring can be read? (In this case live birds who don't make it easy to get close enough to read the metal ring). I feel it should be able for me to find this information myself, but I haven't been able to! Thanks.

Absolutely ! That is the whole point of colour ringing - to allow birds to be identified in the field without having to catch them.

To report the bird you may need to try to find the scheme first. Try here
