My Research Library resource of pre 1980 binoculars catalogs now has 3,580 catalog pages that can be viewed; currently has 209 binoculars catalogs, showing 173 binoculars brands. It is on my binoculars research website Miniature Binoculars (www.miniaturebinoculars.com), and is not for profit; completely non commercial; requires no registration; is created by a binoculars enthusiast to support binoculars enthusiasts; and is free for anyone to view. The research library section includes catalogs of all types of binoculars in 9 languages, and the website is multlingual. There is also a comprehensive history of pre 1980 binoculars distribution channels and importers, exporters, distributors, trademarks, and brand names. The suppression of international shipping by Covid has slowed the ability of acquiring international catalog acquisition, but catalogs are still quite frequently added.

Hi Mark,

Again congratulations on your ongoing monumental achievement!

For those who aren’t already aware of it, Mark’s site is by far the premier resource for brochures and catalogues about older binoculars
It’s a resource that I frequently look to, either for information about a specific make or model, or just to see what’s been added

Not to hijack Mark’s thread, but to remind people of some of the other great resources available about older binoculars:

There are a number of other significant sources of images and information about older binoculars linked to at:
https://www.birdforum.net/threads/a-wealth-of-images-of-older-binoculars.388510/

For information specifically about older Nikon binoculars including catalogues,
see the links at: https://www.birdforum.net/threads/r...tinued-nikon-binoculars-nikon-history.373557/

There is a set of Zeiss binocular brochures dating from 1894 to 1905 (!) at: https://issuu.com/zeisshistoricasociety/docs
And Holger Merlitz has a set of Zeiss catalogues dating from 1912 on at: http://www.holgermerlitz.de/binoculars_english.html

The ISSUU link also includes the journals of the Zeiss Historica Society. Although mainly about cameras and photography,
there is also much information about binoculars and telescopes

The journals can also be found at: https://www.mikeeckman.com/zeiss-historica/
This site has two big advantages: there is both an index of the articles, and; the downloadable PDF’s have much clearer detail

So happy reading for some both over Christmas and well into the new year!
