Variations from binocular to binocular, same model (1 Viewer)

This off topic a little, but I have noticed a significant difference between the same model of binocular in different magnifications and apertures. For example, I found the GPO Passion HD 10x42 to be excellent, but when I tried the GPO Passion HD 8x42, I didn't find it as good optically. I found the Meopta Meostar B1 Plus 8x42 excellent also, but the smaller Meopta Meostar B1 8x32 wasn't as good optically IMO. I also had a glare problem in the bottom of the FOV in the NL 8x42 but not so in the NL 10x32, so even problems like glare can vary from a larger aperture binocular to a smaller aperture binocular.

For the same model, are variations from one binocular to another one relevant?

Well, one of the forum's most prominent voices has this to say:

One thing I have never seen on such threads relates to the “non-existent perfection in manufacturing.” Having worked with Zemax-EE for years, and watching it go through its iterations in an effort to learn about the engineer I was never smart enough to be, I did note that when you are dealing with glass types, thicknesses of glass, kind and thickness of coatings, curvature of elements, knife edges, baffling and more, even the most minute deviation from the engineer’s computer-based design can lead to problems in the real-world image.

This puts not only a comparison of two binoculars of similar design and performance on the border of impractical and foolish (stacking BBs), it makes the comparison of two binoculars of the same model—produced on the same day—impractical and foolish as well, at least to the level so many on these forums want it to be. I’m sorry but reality bites.

Ted, I would love to answer, but I have no post 22 on this big mac. I did a screenshot but I saw no way to attach it! It seems, however, the computer gods are relenting. See the attached.
