What is a vagrant? (1 Viewer)

I have seen this term used throughout this forum. Does it mean a solitary hummer? Does that imply that other hummers migrate in groups?

Among hummingbird bandeers, a vagrant is a bird that that appears out of range and usually at a different time of year than might be expected.

Many hummer species that breed in the western U.S. and overwinter in the tropics have begun to show up in the eastern U.S., especially in winter. We call these birds vagrants.

Hope this helps,
