Went birding this morning to look for a continuing Clay-colored Sparrow and ended up seeing 46 species today with two other local birders, including two lifers - both the Clay-colored Sparrow and a Virginia Rail.

Cycled the long way into work this morning, and visited the tidepool outside the Jefferson Memorial, looking for shorebirds, which was a success. But also spotted a lifer : a lovely Blackpoll Warbler.

Went birding for a few hours in Toronto yesterday, after a day full of meetings, and am finding it increasingly difficult to add to my year list. That said, did spot me a lifer that had been long overdue.

Great morning out birding with a local group of excellent birders and together seeing 36 species, including two lifers: the Grasshopper Sparrow and the Black-throated Green Warbler. Then drove more than four hours roundtrip to rural Pennsylvania to see a continuing, very wet and drippy American Flamingo, and a beauty all the same. A great day for birding.
