Arctic Skua
AKA Parasitic jaeger. This is a 2nd year pelagic bird that is mostly seen far offshore. So I was really lucky to find this one blown to shore by the rough winds. A proper rarity for us in Kenya.
Location
Sabaki Estuary, Kenya
Date taken
12-June-2021
Scientific name
Stercorarius parasiticus
An amazing, brilliant capture of this bird! Awesome! Fun fact, Arctic Skuas are very agressive to predators. You might think they're jerks... But, they're actually quite brave! They dive bomb on very large creatures, and when they're attacking smaller birds, they're usually just either practicing or thinking better safe than sorry. Although, they do sometimes eat young of other seabirds... anyways, great job, mustafa!

Rarity? I should think so! I didn't even imagine you could see these arctic birds in Kenya, but I suppose they do migrate past off-shore.
