Today's work party at MOORS
Today 15 of us started the Final phase of this seasons management of the Moors.
The major task was to clear approx 300 meters of dead hedging that had been woven into the old stock fence. This was done at a time when we never had any grazing animals and the local scallies used to come across the River Salwarp and cause havoc with the birds. We now have regular grazing but the fence is often penetrated by the cattle and they escape into the adjacent field or worse still as they did last year into the river itself. There was so much brash that we ended up having 4 separate fires to get rid of the debris. This was because any river incursion would wash the brash all over the reserve or worse still create blockages in the river affecting us in many ways.
Also the tern rafts were brought into the east bank shore for later refurbishment.
Many thanks to all the Lads that was a hard task and Paul M was well impressed with what we achieved.:t:
