Maybe I am stupit-- but is it even a pipit?
Edit: just seen Steve has already remarked on this in the Photo comments

Appears to be a Straited Grassbird to me. Long tail, white outers, large bill and pronounced streaking on the upperparts. Quite a common bird in marshlands throughout coastal Sabah.

Cracking photo BTW

Hidde, James,
I'm still confused. I knew it wasn't Anthus, and my mind should have suggested M. palustris as I have to know it for Philippines, but it didn't. Maybe what is throwing me off is all of that white in the tail. Is that a feature of any developmental stage of M. palustris? Maybe I just need more books and better descriptions.

Steve,

From what I can remember young birds do show this feature, and can be this pronounced, I've seen some adults in display flight show glistening white edges to the outer tail feathers too. Perhaps a variable feature?
