Griswold’s Vacations 2021 (2 Viewers)

A great holiday indeed and a fantastic read! It was a joy to share it with you Rich - many thanks!

Chris
Glad it was ok Chris. Just sent a message to a holiday cottage on the Outer Hebs for next May. :D The boys really enjoyed the beaches.

Ardnamurchan with friends in September is my next trip.

A fabulous trip report Rich and super pictures too. Vizlas can be good at times but daft at other times eh? LOL

I've uncomfortable memories of my first visit to Handa. Rather stupidly decided on the long walk round on the way back to the ferry.... not a good move when you've got sciatica. Views were good though!

You really did hit a good spell of weather, didn't you. Still very warm here today.

Thanks again for this lovely report Rich.

Excellent reports, some great stuff seen as well, highly enjoyable to read not least because of the happy memories it brought back of my own trips to the sites you visited, great stuff!

Cheers D. It’s further round than I remembered. We just got the last boat back. A bit of a theme for the holiday:LOL:

We were lucky with the weather. Warm in the day and cool at night. Perfect.

Cheers Andrea. Your trip to the Shetlands was making me extremely jealous. I think 13 hours on the boat might be too much for the boy though.
If you think about it apart from a late night business walk he probably goes that long normally without pooing - big dogs can - so walk him before boarding (Torry Battery is a short drive from the docks), plan to do so immediately after disembarking and keep the tools handy for any possible accident in the cabin. Don't be put off Shetland by your dog, it's do-able: I know that because I've seen dogs on the boat.

Either that or his first spell in Stalag Luft Canis VII.....

:D I’d put my OH there but not my boy:D

The problem we have is that he got incredibly nervous on the boat over to the Outer Hebs. Which then manifested itself into aggressiveness towards pretty much every other dog on the boat. There are dog friendly areas which is great, but it was difficult to find him a space far enough away from the others. 7 hours of it did my head in. Should have been 3 on the Mallaig crossing but the ferry had engine problems. Next time we’ll book from Uig. I’ve been told it’s less likely to be cancelled.
