Is the older Trinovid 8x20 still a decent binocular? (1 Viewer)

Won't know much about them until they get here but I do have a set of 8x20 Trinovid on the way. As I understand from the forum the ones with the Leica emblem in the middle have the newer coatings and are optically preferred, so that's what I got. If the comparison is like with my 8x32 models, there won't be a large difference and hopefully they'll work for a glove box binocular that doesn't fill the whole thing up.
I have read somewhere that it is not without risk to put your binoculars in the glove box of a car in the summer months.

EDIT: ah i found it, it was discussed at our brothers and sisters at cloudynights:

I like to have a nice pair of binoculars and a good camera with me whenever I leave the house.

But I don't leave my car binoculars in the vehicle permanently. I have a small, soft camera case which holds a pair of Leica Ultravid+ 10x32 and a small micro 4/3 camera, which I keep in the house, packed and ready to go.

On the outside of the case, there is a pocket.

Not all year-around, but just during the hot summer months, I slip a re-freezeable cold pack into the outside pocket so that while I'm out and about, the binocular & camera case never gets too hot tucked under the driver's seat, inside the car.

When I get home, I just bring the case back in the house. And re-freeze the cold pack. Works well for me.

Smart thinking and nice setup ZDHart. I have read that it can become very hot in Arizona so i guess the cold pack makes sense.

Yes. The summer months are very hot here. I never leave my vehicle out for extended periods of time, just when out shopping, etc. But even then, I like to make sure that the binoculars remain comfortably cool.
