Three massive targets today - Coral-billed Ground-cuckoo (no pics but a nice view of two skulking birds), Banded Kingfisher & Silver-breasted Broadbill.

My Thai List is now on 531 species & I have now photographed 475 species in Thailand. Tomorrow we drive south to Kaeng Krachen - a site that I have visited before - but thereafter, the uncharted waters for me of the south where ticks may flow.....

Twelve hours travelling today broken by a brief stop in Lopburi. My only tick today was Common Woodshrike but a few year ticks from a couple of hours first thing & that stop. I saw two Coral-billed Ground-cuckoos again this morning but failed to get a pic. 😮‍💨😪😪

As Lady Bracknell would say, once may be misfortune but twice was carelessness. I will cry myself to sleep. It will grate alongside some similar mistakes in the past over a couple of mannakins & antpittas that still wake me up at night!

Kaeng Krachan for two days. Limited lifers as I have been here before. Then further south which may be hot hot hot for both weather & lifers if luck runs with us.

Another camera failure today with missing a pic of my first ever Blue Pitta. A stunning species but I was too slow or it was too mobile. I should have done better.

That was my only seen lifer with calling Red-throated Barbet & Grey Peacock-pheasant otherwise. The Barbet should be common enough further south. We have one more day here tomorrow to try and improve things after some serial dipping today!

A good day today. Red-throated Barbet & Grey Peacock-pheasant heard again & Blue Pitta only heard today. Also Chestnut-winged Cuckoo heard but not seen. So yesterday's frustrations were not remedied.

However, eight photographed lifers with White-fronted Scops Owl & Rachet-tailed Treepie the stars but supported by Black-thighed Falconet, Golden-crested Myna, Chestnut-breasted Malkoha, Heart-spotted Woodpecker, etc.... We start heading south from Kaeng Krachen tomorrow with mainly a travelling day before five and a half days birding in a new part of the country for me where my Thai List should overtake my British List at some point!!

My Thai trip list is on 426 species & my Thai List is on 544 species.
