Never assume that the bird in amongst the flock is a common or garden .....

Always check the flock carefully or forever it will always have been that common or garden ............

Never let the wife/girlfriend see how much you just paid for that new scope.

Always spend a good five minutes looking at a bird and try to memorise how it looks and acts before reaching for the field guide - as it may well be gone by the time by the time you raise your bins again.

Never tell your HUSBAND how much you paid for those bins! (yup, he thinks they are £100 cheaper and he's still shocked)

Always take the receipt out of the bag!

Never stop loving those bins - they are your portal to a better world
Always enjoy your birding!

Never assume a correct i/d has been made when a bird is pointed out to you. Always look at it objectively.

Always take your bins when out for a walk, and make sure they're handy at home!

Never - forget that the bird's more important than a tick

Always - prepare for the worst when there's two coaches outside a local RSPB reserve ;)
