The AOS always takes a while to release their comments on anything. It shouldn't be a surprise that this isn't different.

Indeed. Hell, apparently AOS has already voted on the third set of proposals this year for the annual update, and we haven't even gotten a look at what those proposals are.

I say, don't change the names of organisms to satisfy the urge to undo injustices, whether real or perceived. We have enough moralists telling us what is right and what is wrong, without the taxonomists getting involved. Changing the name of a bird does nothing to solve all of the immense problems of this world--the people behind this idea can go volunteer at a local school or food pantry, if they want to do something real to make things better.
