Work Party at the Moors
We were down in numbers today with both our leaders absent - one on family duty and the other indisposed (get well soon, Paul). However, we were able to complete the task started last week: we cleared balsam from the south-east corner of the Moors (behind Amy's Marsh and in the thickets to the right of the hide). We thought that the work we did last year made it easier this time. Perhaps we are getting on top of it. There are still large clumps on the south-west corner.
Today's workers were Bob O, Bob P, Bob R, John C, Ray, Tony and me. There were no before and after photos, not even of the cake, which, unaccountably, lasted longer than usual.
Birding at the Moors
Highlights were Barnacle Goose, Snipe, Water Rail, 3 Black-tailed Godwits flying over, 4 Raven, Kingfisher, Hobby, Sparrowhawk, 2 juv Whitethroats (East Track) and 2 Goldcrests (in the trees on the causeway at Soggy Bottom).
