warbler migration (N America) (1 Viewer)

At this time flocks of birds maintain a movement in the general direction of the seasonal journey while feeding on or near the ground. Sometimes they travel hurriedly, and while their flights may be short, they can cover an appreciable distance in the course of a day.

So they travel in spurts, depending on weather, rather than in a daiuly repeating pattern.

What I am getting, as far as birding, is that warblers will land in city parks at night. They are like magnets for tired birds. But if it is a nice day, they will move on, even if just a few hours of travel, by noon the next day. The city parks are not preferred habitat, though some food is found.
