...can anyone recommend for browsing BirdGuides "birdmap"?

I think the iphone and Blackberry are out of reach for me at the moment. :(

I've never used the Birdmap page on a phone, preferring the text-only Birdnews Anywhere. The Map is extremely slow over GPRS and, on my Nokia N97, the mouseover bit don't work.

On my iTouch, connected via WiFi, the map displays pretty quickly. But there's still no popup on mouseover. So you have to open each sighting to see what it is.

I'm still going to stick with the text-only service. But, if you do want the map - no matter what phone you have, be prepared for a long wait, as WiFi and 3G connections tend not to be available in places birders tend to frequent.

Oh, and get something with a proper keyboard. Typing in URLs on the N97 and iTouch keyboards isn't too bad. I'd hate to try it with a normal numeric pad and predictive text.

just tried it on my Nokia E71, all loads up quickly but no mouseover infom you have to click for details... Other than that I'd recomend the phone, especially for the internet - WAP and wifi both work well and the qwerty keyboard makes writting emails and forum replies very easy.
